Anaya Bangar Biography

Anaya Bangar Early Life and Education

Anaya Bangar was born on 26 December 2000 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is the daughter of former Indian cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar and Kashmira Bangar.

Growing up in a family deeply rooted in cricket, Anaya—who was assigned male at birth and named Aryan—was exposed to the sport from a young age and naturally gravitated towards it. She completed her schooling at Don Bosco High School, Matunga, Mumbai, where she balanced academics with active participation in cricket.

Following school, she pursued a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree from Rizvi College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai.

Later, she expanded her creative skills by earning a Diploma in UI/UX Design from IMT Ghaziabad, and went on to complete a Master of Science in Design from De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom.

Anaya Bangar Career

Anaya began her professional journey as a promising young cricketer. Playing under the name Aryan Bangar, she represented several age-level teams in India, including Mumbai, Puducherry, and club-level cricket for Islam Gymkhana and Hinckley Cricket Club in Leicestershire, UK.

She played as a left-hand batter and a left-arm orthodox bowler, making her mark in U-16, U-19, and U-23 tournaments. However, her cricketing journey was eventually overshadowed by an internal struggle with gender identity.

In her early 20s, Anaya made the courageous decision to transition and embrace her identity as a transgender woman.

Following her transition, Anaya stepped away from professional cricket and channeled her energy into the design and tech industry.

She founded her creative agency, Anaya Innovation, and established herself as a UI/UX designer and entrepreneur.

Beyond her professional career, she has become a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, especially focusing on transgender inclusion in sports.

Her transformation story gained widespread attention due to her honesty about the emotional and physical challenges she faced—including discrimination and mental health struggles—during and after her transition.

In 2025, Anaya Bangar was confirmed as a contestant on Bigg Boss 19 Hindi. Her participation is being viewed as a significant moment for transgender visibility on Indian television, and her journey is expected to inspire open conversations about identity, acceptance, and resilience.
